About Sagnik
Sagnik Sen has been hailed as the voice of Hemant Kumar. He has to his credit a large number of National and International performances of Hindi, Bangla music and Rabindrasangeet (Songs of Tagore).
Born on 18th of November, 1986 in Kolkata, West Bengal, to parents, who emphasised Music from the very beginning.
Sagnik’s father Late Swapan Sen and his mother Abha Sen, shared the same passion, Music. His father, having a deep & mellifluous voice had great love & respect for Hemant Kumar’s songs and Rabindrasangeet.
It is from his father, that Sagnik inherited, and learnt music since childhood.
Sagnik’s paternal grandparents are Mr. Ajit Sen & Mrs. Jyotsna Sen and maternal grandparents are Mr. Jyotindranath Ghosh & Mrs. Dayamoyee Ghosh.
As a kid, Sagnik mostly had the interest in listening and learning Hemanta Mukherjee’s songs and Rabindrasangeet, besides listening to other singers of the Golden era.
He did his schooling from St. Joseph’s College and Sri Aurobindo Institute of Education(Kolkata), moving onto his study in Computer Science from B. P. Poddar Institute of Technology & Management.
His debut music album was released by Sagarika Music, in the year 2008, followed by albums from HMV SaReGaMa, Hindusthan Records (INRECO), Prime Music, Golden Voice Entertainment, etc.
He came into the limelight when Music Director Devjit Roy gave him his first break and the opportunity to sing in one of Bengal’s reputed TV channel’s show, ‘The Legends‘, in 2015. It was instantly a superhit program and Mr. Roy gave him more TV shows, which were all immensely successful.
Since then, he has been concertising very successfully all over the World.
Sagnik Sen made his Bollywood debut with the song ‘Farsh Pe Khade‘, from the film ‘Monica, O My Darling‘ (released on NETFLIX, 2022), directed by Vasan Bala and music composed by Achint Thakkar.
He has been honoured and felicitated from various organisations, in and outside India.
In 2017(May), he was awarded ‘The Akademia Music Award‘ from Los Angeles for his rendition of the song, ‘Yeh Nayan Dare Dare‘, in the category of Best Live Performance Music Video Cover.
International Concerts
In The United States of America and Canada, Sagnik Sen has concertized in New York (several times), Washington D C, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego, Atlanta, Dallas, Ohio, Baltimore, Chicago, Pennsylvania, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary.
In Europe and Australia, Sagnik has concertized in London, Netherlands, Leceister, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
He has performed in Sri-Lanka, and several times in Bangladesh.
National Concerts
In India, he has given concerts, mostly in all the states and in all the major cities, several times (Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Lucknow, Patna, Chennai, Indore, Banglore, Gwalior, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Assam, Orissa, etc).
Playback
Sagnik Sen made his Bollywood debut with the song ‘Farsh Pe Khade‘, from the film ‘Monica, O My Darling‘ (released on NETFLIX, 2022), directed by Vasan Bala and music composed by Achint Thakkar.
Sagnik Sen, has done playback for the television mega series ‘Mahanayak‘. He sang the song ‘Diner Sheshe Ghumer Deshe‘, for the film ‘MAHALAYA‘ (which is the only song in the film). Music director Devjit Roy made Sagnik sing various original songs, in his compositions, and Rabindrasangeet, for a number of television megaseries, like ‘Balika Badhu‘, ‘Phuleswari‘, ‘Bikele Bhorer Phool‘,etc.
He sang the title track for the film, ‘Jete Nahi Dibo‘, based on Legendary Actor Uttam Kumar.
He was very close and has received immense blessings from Legendary Rabindrasangeet Exponent Suchitra Mitra, and Bela Mukherjee(wife of Hemant Kumar).
Besides singing and composing, Sagnik also has his passion for Painting, playing Piano and writing Poems. His paintings have also been shown in his various TV interviews and programs.
Sagnik feels honoured and that it is his duty to continue the Legacy of Hemant Kumar’s songs and Rabindrasangeet,for the people who love to hear them,besides his own songs, with full dedication and perfection.
